What is GPA?

The GPA Calculator computes your Grade Point Average from individual course grades and credit hours. GPA is the standard measure of academic performance used by universities worldwide.

US 4.0 Scale: A=4.0, A-=3.7, B+=3.3, B=3.0, B-=2.7, C+=2.3, C=2.0, D=1.0, F=0. Indian CGPA uses a 10-point scale where CGPA × 9.5 ≈ percentage (CBSE system).

GPA matters for: graduate school admissions (3.0+ typically required), scholarships, dean's list, honors, job applications, and visa eligibility for some countries.

Formula

GPA = Σ(Grade Points × Credits) / Σ(Credits)

Conversions: GPA 4.0 to 10-point: multiply by 2.5 GPA to percentage: multiply by 25 CBSE CGPA to percentage: multiply by 9.5

Example — 4 courses: A (4.0) × 4 credits = 16 A- (3.5) × 3 credits = 10.5 B (3.0) × 3 credits = 9 A- (3.5) × 4 credits = 14 Total = 49.5 / 14 credits = 3.54 GPA
